The Solutions Engineer (SE) at Torchlight is a senior technical consultant and a key member of the
Solution Team Organization (STO). The SE partners with the Account Team Organization (ATO) to
solve complex customer business problems that require custom solutions, deep technical
validation, and advanced use of our flagship product, Catalyst. This role is responsible for
architecting and demonstrating tailored solutions that leverage Catalyst's API services and platform
capabilities, reducing technical uncertainty for prospects and enabling the sales team to close
complex, high-value deals.

Responsibilities
The Solutions Engineer will be engaged throughout the customer opportunity lifecycle, with a
primary focus on pre-sales activities where custom solutioning and deep technical validation are
crucial. Key responsibilities include:
● Pre-Sales Solutioning & Technical Enablement:
○ Acquire and maintain deep technical knowledge of Catalyst's architecture, features, and API services to serve as a subject matter expert.
○ Lead technical discovery sessions and requirements gathering workshops with prospective
customers to uncover and understand their challenges, technical environments, and
desired outcomes.
○ Design, develop, and present engaging custom demonstrations and Proofs-of-Concept
(POCs) that highlight the value and feasibility of Catalyst solutions customized to meet
specific customer needs.
○ Architect and document technical solutions, outlining data flows, integrations, and
customizations to provide technical validation and contribute to proposals and Statements
of Work (SOWs).
○ Articulate complex technical concepts and solution designs to both technical and business
stakeholders, using whiteboarding and visual communication to build confidence and
consensus.
● Post-Sales Implementation & Adoption Support:
○ Provide expert technical guidance and support to customers and internal delivery teams
during the initial implementation and onboarding phases of custom solutions.
○ Develop and deploy custom scripts, integrations, or reports as defined in the SOW to
ensure successful delivery of the agreed-upon solution.
○ Create technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions to empower
customers and internal teams to operate and maintain the implemented solutions
effectively.
● Internal Collaboration & Improvement:
○ Collaborate closely with the Product and Engineering teams, channeling customer
feedback and insights to influence the product roadmap and drive continuous
improvement.
○ Partner with the Sales team to provide technical feasibility checks, solution design, and
strategic guidance throughout the sales cycle.
○ Develop reusable solution assets, code snippets, and best-practice guides to improve the
efficiency and effectiveness of the solutions engineering process.

Qualifications
● Applied Technical Expertise: Proven ability to design and implement custom analytical
solutions using APIs and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++, Java, C#, Go, Rust,
etc.).
● Solution Architecture: Strong experience in solution design, including familiarity with cloud
platforms (GCP preferred), integration patterns (REST APIs, webhooks), and database concepts.
● Technical Consulting & Discovery: Skill in leading consultative discussions, uncovering complex
business problems, and translating them into technical requirements for custom solutions.
● Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills: Capability to clearly and compellingly
present technical solutions and product demonstrations to diverse audiences, establishing
credibility and trust.
● Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to diagnose customer challenges, think
analytically, and design effective, creative solutions using the Catalyst platform.
● Collaborative Team Player: Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment,
particularly with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams, to drive successful outcomes.
● Proactive Learner: Self-driven. Stays updated on new product features, API updates, and
relevant industry technologies, tools, techniques, and procedures that drive innovation and
increase impact.

Qualifications Desired
● Industry Domain Knowledge: Experience in the defense, intelligence, law enforcement, or
logistics sectors, along with familiarity with the specific challenges, trends, and use cases for
data and analytics in each industry.
● Experience with SaaS Solutions: Previous experience with the advanced technical integration
and customization of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products.
● Proposal and SOW Contribution: Experience contributing technical details to proposals and
Statements of Work, clearly documenting the solution, deliverables, and scope.
